Title IX

Title IX is part of a 1972 federal education law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and gender in any federally funded education program. Rutgers is committed to providing a safe learning, living, and working environment, free from discrimination and violence.

Title IX aims to eliminate any sexual or relationship misconduct by preventing its recurrence and finding support solutions to address the impact of its existence. Rutgers supports members of the university in their decision to find support or report any misconduct to the RUPD or Title IX Coordinators. If you are looking for confidential options to discuss the incident before making a decision to report, feel free to reach out to the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance located on your campus.

Title IX Coordinators are available to give students and other Rutgers members clear, transparent information about university policies and procedures for addressing sexual and relationship misconduct.
