Athletics

The Athletics compliance unit provides compliance and enterprise risk management services while working together with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) and the DIA Office of Athletic Compliance. Our Athletics compliance assists with the identification and mitigation of risks affecting Athletics’ ability to achieve stated objectives, managing and addressing compliance issues, and providing training related to university policies, regulations, state, and federal laws.

 

Enterprise Risk Management

Enterprise risk management (ERM) is a process by which an organization identifies, assesses, prioritizes and manages risks and opportunities to facilitate achievement of strategic objectives.

 

Ethics

As university and public employees, we must take care to exhibit the highest ethical standards of conduct in carrying out our duties and to avoid rigorously any conduct that might produce even the appearance of the misuse of our Rutgers positions to further our own personal interests.

 

FERPA/Student Privacy

Rutgers University is committed to the protection and confidentiality of student education records, adhering closely to the guidelines established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

 

GDPR

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It’s the core of Europe’s digital privacy legislation. At its core, GDPR is a new set of rules designed to give EU citizens more control over their personal data. It aims to simplify the regulatory environment for business so both citizens and businesses in the European Union can fully benefit from the digital economy. 

 

Healthcare Compliance

We seek to build and sustain a world class University by promoting ethical conduct through collaboration and education. We help University faculty and staff understand applicable laws, rules, and regulations to create an active culture of compliance.

 

HIPAA/Patient Privacy

Rutgers University is committed to protecting patient privacy, we work diligently to ensure your privacy and to maintain the confidentiality of your information and medical records. Like all healthcare institutions, we follow the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which is designed to protect the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.

 

OPRA

Rutgers has appointed a University Office of Custodian of Records to uphold the University’s obligation to provide access to government records in compliance with the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA).

 

Research Compliance

Research Compliance supports and promotes ethical research practices in biomedical, clinical and basic research at Rutgers.

 

Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education.
